Underground Construction Manager

We are proud to partner with a leading mining company in Papua New Guinea to support the delivery of a $600M mine expansion project. This presents an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Superintendent, Project Manager, or Construction Manager to take a leadership role in delivering critical infrastructure, including the Underground Paste Plant and Ventilation System.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead a high-performing team committed to achieving project milestones.
• Drive innovation, support change initiatives, and effectively manage differing viewpoints.
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the project team.
• Foster an inclusive workplace culture focused on engagement, value, and continuous improvement.

Construction Management

• Oversee the construction of the UG Paste Plant and Ventilation System within approved budgets and timelines.
• Manage construction schedules, resource planning, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Administer contractor and independent consultant contracts effectively.
• Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including B2B teams, contractors, and owners' representatives, to ensure seamless project execution.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with engineering, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Lead the review and auditing of regulatory compliance processes.
• Proactively manage risk through regular assessment and implementation of mitigation strategies.

About You: To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Trade or Engineering qualifications relevant to the role.
• Underground construction experience, ideally within SMP or a similar discipline.
• Proven experience as a Superintendent, Project Manager, or Construction Manager in a construction-focused capacity (not operations).
• This position is a 12 month initial contract with the possibility of an extension.
