Environmental Manager - Tier 2 Contractor

The Environmental Manager will ensure compliance with environmental legislation and promote best practices in environmental management across the company’s operations.

Our client is considered top of their field with a great culture, career progression opportunities and strong pipeline of work with blue chip clients.

The company specialises in projects including infrastructure, rail, remedial, buildings refurbishment etc from smaller up to $30m to $50m. They are seeking a driven and passionate Environmental Manager to join their team and take ownership of all environmental responsibilities.

In this environmental role, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders and ensure compliance with statutory and company requirements, promote sustainability initiatives, and help deliver projects that make a real difference.
  
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans and strategies.
  • Lead environmental initiatives and collaborate with other teams across the organisation to ensure alignment and consistency of environmental practices, messaging and standards.
  • Develop and foster relationships with external stakeholders including Client environmental stakeholders.
  • Work closely with pre-contracts teams to integrate environmental management measures into tender submissions and project planning activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), to support tender submissions.
  • Develop detailed environmental documentation, such as CEMPs and necessary approvals, during the project award phase for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental laws, permits, and regulations.
  • Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and site visits to mitigate risks.
  • Promote sustainability across the business.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant functional discipline (Environmental Sciences, Sustainable Development, Sustainability)
  • 5 to 15yrs + years of relevant experience, ideally within the rail or construction sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental statutory requirements and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience with the implementation of an electronic HSE event management/Health Surveillance system.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently.
