Electrical Engineer - Battery & Substation Projects

Our client is an established leader in design, construction and maintenance of electrical, renewable, and telecommunications infrastructure and are known for their high-quality practices. They are now seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to work on various BESS and Substation projects across the Hunter Region. 

As part of the team, you will be responsible for providing construction support to site management and quality teams. You will need to be confident directing, driving and problem solving for onsite tasks.

The role will be to support the delivery of the design and installation of BESS and Substation Construction projects, experience in these areas is desirable.
The candidate will support the renewable engineering team for design activities; produce designs, technical specifications, engineering assessments, technical analysis and construction support to meet national and client specifications and standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensure all designs adhere to engineering principles and meet Australian and the company’s standards.
• Both undertake and peer review design calculations and documentation for projects including the provision of expertise in the areas of arc flash, earthing, LV systems, DC systems, lightning design, lightning design, cable design, insulation coordination and other electrical engineering tasks.
• Undertake scope definition, prepare contractors scope documents and participate in tender reviews.
• Develop technical scopes of work for plant and equipment related to renewables and substation projects, including but not limited switchgear, transformers, and buildings.
• Provide mentoring and professional development to design and engineering team to increase knowledge and skills of all team members.

  
Qualifications & Requirements:
  

• Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronic that will allow admission as a Corporate Member of Institute of Engineers, Australia.
• Chartered Professional Engineer as defined for registration on NPER register or able to obtain it.
• Experience in designing, implementing, or maintaining energy-efficient systems or building services.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to assess and improve energy systems.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting technical information.
