Tax Manager - Australia & International Experience

• Market-leading tier 2 engineering contractor, national and PNG presence
• Ideally have some international tax experience
• Reporting to the CFO, strong communication skills required

Candidates should have experience as a Tax Manager ideally with exposure to both Australian tax and international tax ideally with experience in PNG.

Our client is a fast-growing, multinational contractor with a diverse portfolio of projects. They are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their successful team and lead the tax aspects for companies within a wider group.

The successful candidate will need to provide specialist consulting and advisory advice to a large stakeholder group whilst anticipating and supporting business needs.

You will be the conduit between the external advice our client receives from external consultants, and their internal team.

With continued growth, our client are progressing into overseas projects and you will support the finance team with international tax advice.

Candidates can come from a corporate firm or from accounting consultancies. You will be reporting to the CFO and have one direct report.
  
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for the Group
• Preparation of Corporate Income Tax Returns, Fringe Benefit Tax Returns, Business Activity Statements and Payroll Tax Returns
• Collaborate with finance to ensure that tax risks are identified, communicated and effectively managed.
• Assist with external consultancy firms for International Tax Planning, Compliance and Transfer Pricing documentation
• Preparation of monthly tax effect accounting and tax account reconciliations
• Support with external audit queries on tax effect and tax balances
• Preparation of compliance reporting such as Payment Times Reporting and Taxable Payments Annual Reporting
• Identify business needs and provide tax advice and business insights through analysis modelling and reporting
• Educate employees on relevant tax issues to ensure accurate completion of tax returns
• Assist management with tax governance framework
• Assist with the preparation of R&D incentives when applicable
• Administration of the ERP systems (JDE) and support with improvement initiatives

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 10 years' relevant experience (Big 4, mid-tier firms, or large multinational corporate tax environments)
• Understanding of international tax, tax consolidation, tax governance and risk management, indirect tax, and withholding taxes
• Experience with JDE Edwards (Oracle) is an advantage
• Detail-oriented approach
• Comprehensive understanding of Australian and global taxation legislation
• Ability to positively influence, develop, and maintain stakeholder relationships

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance
• CA/CPA Qualification
• Police Clearance
