Safety Superintendent - Open Pit Mining

About the Role
We’re seeking an experienced Mining Safety Superintendent to join a large-scale open pit mining operation in the Middle East. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for maintaining and improving site safety systems, ensuring compliance with international standards, and promoting a strong safety culture across all departments and contractors.
 
What You’ll Be Doing

• Implement and monitor ISO standards:
• ISO 45001 – Occupational Health & Safety
• ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
• ISO 9001 – Quality Management
• Maintain compliance with site-wide HSE frameworks
• Lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, safety inductions, and awareness campaigns
• Maintain Risk Register and incident/accident reporting systems
• Monitor safety performance and submit monthly reports
• Advise on injury prevention, legal compliance, and best practice
• Conduct safety training and mentor HSE team members
• Participate in internal audits and change management processes

What We’re Looking For
Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (bachelor’s degree or Graduate Diploma preferred)

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Work Health and Safety
• 5+ years' experience in a senior safety role within mining
• Must be an Australian Resident or Citizen

Additional mining safety training are beneficial such as:

• S1, S2, S3 or G1, G8, G9 Units
• Standard 11
• Strong knowledge of ISO standards and international safety frameworks
• Experience working with diverse teams in remote or overseas environments

This is a hands-on role, we are looking for people that love being on the ground and not just behind the desk that can take ownership with the view on internal promotion to Safety Manager.
