Drive land acquisition strategy and execution for a major renewables scheme, ensuring the timely and compliant procurement of land critical to the delivery of NSW’s renewable energy ambitions.

Our Client is seeking a seasoned Property Lead to manage and lead the acquisition of properties and easements essential for the delivery of the renewables project and associated infrastructure.

This role will lead a team responsible for delivering land access within key project milestones through negotiation or compulsory acquisition, all while maintaining strong relationships with landowners and ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, government policy, and project governance.

Working as part of an integrated technical, environmental planning, and property team, you’ll ensure land acquisition strategies align with whole-of-project outcomes and facilitate seamless transitions from development to delivery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Design and deliver a property acquisition program aligned with project milestones and contractual commitments
• Undertake property-specific due diligence and strategy development
• Lead property negotiations and acquisitions (both voluntary and compulsory), ensuring compliance with Government policy
• Engage directly with landowners, government agencies, and project stakeholders
• Fulfil all reporting obligations to the Centre of Property Acquisition
• Manage and support the property acquisition team under our clients policies and budgets
• Provide expert input into other workstreams including planning, legal, and delivery functions

Qualifications and Requirements:

Essential:
• 10+ years of experience dealing with landowners on major linear infrastructure projects
• Proven expertise managing the end-to-end property acquisition process
• Strong background in negotiation, particularly around easements
Desirable:
• Experience on projects landmark projects ideally in the energy or government sector
• Familiarity with acquiring Commonwealth land under leases
• Understanding of the legal/regulatory framework related to land acquisition
• Tertiary qualifications in property, real estate, law, or related discipline
• Proven ability to manage budgets, reporting, and governance functions
