Project Engineer / Contracts Administrator - Developer Builder

Exciting opportunity to work with an established Residential Developer builder with a large pipeline of projects taking developments from front end through to completion.

Our client is a growing residential developer who are now seeking an experienced Project Engineer / Contracts Administrator to join their professional and highly experienced team based in Canberra.

The projects you will be working on is a residential/apartment from smaller up to circa $20m+.

Will be reporting into a senior leader in the business who will be a great mentor and will be an amazing opportunity to join a company with an attractive pipeline of projects.

Ideal candidates will come from a background of head contract contracting new build projects however will consider other backgrounds as well. Duties will include full Contract Administration and Project Engineering tasks being effectively like an assistant PM on the projects.

Sample CA duties include but not limited to:

• Managing all facets of the subcontract process
• Negotiate and review subcontract tenders including preparation of tender comparison for review
• Prepare, check and review subcontract packages, scopes, lettings and procurement schedules
• Monitor subcontractors to ensure they are adhering to environmental commitments and responsibilities
• Preparation of accurate payment schedules
• Understand and manage subcontractor contractual risk
• Process progress claims, delay claims and external variations according to contractual obligations
• Preparation of project budgets for review and provide accurate rolling final account forecasts
• Assist in the preparation and administration of project completion and inspection test plans

Sample Project Engineer Duties

• Design comprehensive project programmes
• Communicate project programme to the team
• Identify key milestones for foreman short range programmes
• Ensure construction programmes are followed and regularly updated with short and long term project plans
• Identify and manage construction risk throughout all projects
• Manage project expenditure and cashflow to optimise financial outcome
• Provide accurate monthly rolling final account forecasts to Project Manager and potentially clients
• Administer the head contract and subcontract, including progress claims, variation, delay and extension to time claims
• Negotiate and let subcontracts against budget

 Skills & Experience:

• Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Quantity Surveying / Project Management or Construction Management qualifications
• Interpretation of Technical documents
• Ideally understanding design, development and delivery process of Residential projects
• Previous project delivery experience
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to take initiative and work self-directed to achieve results
• Ability to identify and solve problems if/when they arise
• Superior knowledge of MS Office Suite, Word, Excel etc.
