National Scrap Manager - Demolition Contractor

Excellent opportunity for a scrap metal subject matter expert to oversee that discipline across a national portfolio of landmark projects.

Our client is a well-established and market leading civil and demolition contractor, they are looking for an experienced and dedicated National Scrap Manager to join their growing business.
  
Our client provides their services across a number of industry sectors such as building construction, industrial, mining and resources, transport infrastructure, environmental etc. and you will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of challenging projects.
  
Candidates will need to have strong communication & negotiation skills and must have a strong understanding of the scrap metal market both ferrous and non-ferrous. You will also need to have a strong network in the sector including dealings with furnaces and scrap dealers both locally and internationally. This may include acquiring equipment, negotiating deals and establishing a business wise standardised approach to scrap sales.
  
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Forecast and plan for scrap materials based on project timelines and resource availability
  • Develop and implement a national scrap management strategy aligned with company goals
  • Build and manage relationships with scrap buyers, recyclers, and waste management companies
  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
  • Stay current on industry trends and technology advancements that could enhance scrap management
  • Prepare financial and operational reports for senior management, demonstrating cost efficiencies and revenue generated
  • Track and analyse the financial impact of scrap activities, focusing on profitability and cost savings
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • 7-15 years of experience in scrap metal management, ideally within the construction, mining, oil and gas or civil contracting industries
  • Leadership Experience in managing teams or projects related to scrap metal
  • Knowledge of scrap resale values, market trends, and factors affecting scrap material prices
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favourable terms with scrap buyers, recyclers, and waste management vendors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
