I'm currently partnering with a well-funded and rapidly growing mining company to appoint a Head of Mining for one of the Asia-Pacific region's most exciting underground gold operations.
 
This is a senior leadership opportunity where you'll take full accountability for the performance, safety and strategic direction of the underground mining department while working alongside an experienced executive leadership team.
 
Operating on a 19 days on / 9 days off FIFO roster, this role is ideally suited to candidates based on Australia's East Coast, although outstanding applicants from elsewhere will also be considered.
 
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you'll lead all underground mining activities including:

• Overall leadership of underground production and development
• Delivering production targets safely and efficiently
• Leading Mining Superintendents, Shift Bosses, Engineers and Supervisors
• Driving operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
• Contractor management and performance
• Budgeting, forecasting and cost management
• Working closely with Technical Services, Geology, Processing and Maintenance to optimise mine performance
• Maintaining statutory compliance and industry-leading safety standards

 
This is a highly visible leadership role with genuine influence over the future direction of the operation.
 
About You:
To be successful you'll ideally possess:

• Degree in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
• Extensive underground hard rock mining experience
• Previous experience as a Mining Manager, Underground Manager, Head of Mining or similar senior operational leadership position
• Proven ability leading large multidisciplinary mining teams
• Strong production, development and contractor management experience
• Experience operating in remote FIFO environments
• Eligibility to obtain a PNG Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
• Experience within narrow vein underground mining operations is advantageous
