Estimator - Fit Out/Refurb to $20m+

Our client is working with a well-regarded commercial construction and fit out contractor experiencing sustained growth and a strong forward pipeline of work. Delivering projects across workplace, hospitality, retail and mixed-use sectors, our client is known for quality delivery, strong client relationships and a collaborative internal culture.

Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team on a full-time basis. This role will suit someone who enjoys working across multiple tenders, collaborating closely with pre-construction and project teams, and contributing to successful bid outcomes across a range of commercial projects.

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed cost plans and tender submissions from early feasibility through to final pricing, ensuring all estimates are accurate, competitive and commercially sound.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  
Estimating & Tendering

• Preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction and fit out projects
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to fully understand project scope
• Completing take-offs and pricing labour, materials, preliminaries and subcontractor packages
• Preparing and issuing tender enquiries and managing subcontractor pricing returns
• Analysing subcontractor quotes, identifying scope gaps, exclusions and risk items

Pre-Construction & Cost Planning

• Assisting with early-stage feasibility estimates and cost plans
• Providing value engineering options and alternative construction methodologies
• Supporting the preparation of tender submissions, budgets and cash flow forecasts
• Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Directors during tender reviews

Commercial & Team Collaboration

• Maintaining accurate estimating records and cost databases
• Attending tender meetings, site inspections and clarification meetings as required
• Supporting handover of successful tenders to delivery teams
• Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or similar (preferred)
• 3–6+ years’ experience in an Estimator role within commercial construction or fit out
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and trade sequencing
• Experience preparing competitive tenders and cost plans
• High level of attention to detail and strong numerical skills
• Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with subcontractors and consultants
• Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office
